Called To Be Fed, Called To Serve

Acts 8:26-40
John 6:44-51

Through our baptism and confirmation, we are called to evangelize and become Eucharistic person.; to go out into the whole world and proclaim the good news. Philip was chosen as one of the seven first deacons together with Stephen ( Acts 6: 5 ). After the martyrdom of St. Stephen, the Spirit led him. Philip is considered to be one of the foremost missionaries of early christian community. He is an example of a true missionary whose actions are directed by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit blows wherever it wills are you ready to be led by the Spirit in your hearts and minds and in all the corners and areas of your lives?

The gospel of John continues the Bread of Life Discourse of Jesus with the crowds. In his teaching, Jesus says ;”I am the living bread which has come down from heaven’. He is the food that does not perish and He is the food that gives eternal life. The Lord has kept his promise that he will be with us till the end of time. The Eucharist is Himself, the Blessed Sacrament living and true presence and in that presence each and everyone of us finds strength, peace, hope, joy and salvation. He remains present in our tabernacles for our sake. The devotion to the Blessed Sacrament within and outside of Holy Mass is a kind of mindfulness of our Lord’s presence in our spiritual lives that He has not left us abandoned. By his presence, we gain the merits of salvation.

Let us not take the Lord for granted, his divinity is a mystery to us and by presence he becomes vulnerable for our sake. He kept imprisoned for our sake in the tabernacle and He remain there alone or in the company of few persons. At the reception of Holy Communion, He himself does not distinguish between saints and sinners. So that we can approach him easily through our conscience and sacramental lives.

We draw our lives from the Eucharist. We are fed by this sacrament of love, enlightened by it, and strengthened by it. He walks beside us as our strength and food for the journey. It satisfies our thirst and hunger and leads us to the promise of Christ. Therefore, we cannot underestimate or overestimate the power of the Risen Lord. He has made himself vulnerable and easy for us to approach him. We should not be afraid to approach the sacrament of mercy and love.
