Pochettino signed a two-year contract with the club with an option for an additional year, according to Chelsea, and will start in his new position on July 1.
It is Pochettino’s first coaching position since he left Paris Saint-Germain in July of last year, and it also represents his return to the Premier League, where he enjoyed a successful five-and-a-half-year career with Tottenham that included a trip to the Champions League final.
Pochettino was generally anticipated to accept the Chelsea role, which is regarded as one of the most prominent jobs in European soccer. Graham Potter, who was ousted in March after almost seven months in leadership, has a permanent replacement in him. Since then, the team has been led pro-tempore by Frank Lampard, and they placed 12th in the Premier League.
