Christ Is Our Eternal High Priest

Hebrews 7:25-8:6
Mark 3:7-12

Do you believe that Jesus can change your life right now? Do you trust in his authority to transform you? All you need to do is to believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, repent of your sins, deepen your relationship with God and live in the Spirit by witnessing God’s love. It is the Holy Spirit that makes us know who Jesus is. Today’s first reading from the letter to the Hebrews describes the role of Christ in our lives. Christ is our eternal high priest. He is the one who offers the ultimate sacrifice once and for all. He mediates on our behalf. The lord of our salvation.

In today’s gospel, People were traveling from north, south, east, and west, streaming to hear Jesus, to be with Jesus to touch Jesus. Jesus was a bit intimidated by the huge numbers because he asked his friends to have a boat ready to give him an escape route so “they would not crush him.”  And this was not the only time great crowds came to Jesus.  Great popularity and adulation among the people but, whatever happened to all those people no one knows?

Being a practicing Catholic can be a difficult thing today.  Sometimes we are very fervent but there are other times when our hearts can grow distant.  The disapproval of our neighbors, from associates or our society, the scandals that happen within our Church, and the experiences of personal disappointment, disillusionment, hurt, or anger can all cause us to pull back from our faith, to recede into our shells. The beautiful thing is that Christ our high priest has taught us how to reach out to our Father through prayers. All questions in life can be answers by him. May we always remember that we belong to God and each other. May we strive to listen to hear his voice in our hearts. He cares for us. We are worth everything because of his love for us.
