Comparing The Generation Of Christ With Ours

Comparing The Generation Of Christ With Ours

As the crowd grew bigger, Jesus addressed them, this is a wicked generation, it is asking for a sign. The only sign it will be given is the sign of Jonah. Comparing the generation of Christ with ours, I think that generation lacked the revelation and full knowledge of who Christ is. Christ’s generation had a sense of godliness whereas our generation has lost its conscience and moral consciousness.

The generation of Jesus sought to follow Jesus closely, our generation prefers to follow the dictates of men. If Jesus could say his generation is wicked then I am short of words to explain this our generation.

In Nigeria today, there are so many things we are doing under the name of religion and as the saying goes, “ you can not change the leopard’s skin or stop the scorpion from stinging. We have so many Churches in all corners of our streets in Nigeria and yet our wicked lifestyle remains the same.

Everywhere different Christian denomination calls for crusades, revivals, vigils, etc. but patriotism and the message of truth and comes in and goes out through the next open window. We line up to Churches and Mosques every weekend but throughout the weekdays we are highly notorious towards one another. There is insecurity; nowhere is safe, terrorism and kidnapping have been the order of the day, fraud, political deception, and much more cuts across the federation. We are actually in anarchy and we are heading toward doom. God save your people.

Just like our saviour mentioned, the only sign we need is the sign of Jonah. The sign of repentance. The sign of sincere conversion right from the heart. Once we can change as often as we should, things will start turning around for good. It is only God that can help us now if and only if we have a change of heart and mentality towards good.

The psalmist tells us, “I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked”. Psalm 26: 5.

Today and everyday, cease to do evil. Learn to do good. Never associate yourself with the wicked and the enemies of God. Christ is the Sign and the image of the invisible God. Seek the face of Christ and his kingdom and every other thing shall be given to you. Matthew 6:33.

May we never be a curse to our nations and our generation and may the Lord keep us from the ways of destruction. Amen.

“If God created shadows it was to better emphasize the light.”-Saint John XXIII pray for us. Amen.
