Desmond Olusola Elliot, a well-known Nollywood actor and member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has finally spoken out about the recent accusations that cast doubt on his s*xuality.
“I am not gay,” the 50-year-old lawmaker said in an interview with TVC, dismissing the rumors as unfounded.
“Why would I respond to an allegation that neither increases nor decreases my life?
“It’s an opinion someone has conceived. For me to come out and say it’s true or not isn’t necessary as long as I’m impacting people positively,” he remarked.
Days before, a controversial blogger named Elliot and other notable personalities in a list of accusations pertaining to homos*xuality.
The actor-politician voiced worries about the unregulated blogging platforms’ increasing power.
He called on the government to think about enacting regulations to stop false information and shield prominent personalities from unfounded allegations.
Elliot’s reaction seeks to correct the record while drawing attention to the larger problem of unbridled influence from digital media.
