Do Not Allow Your Rage Get The Best Of You

Wisdom 2:1,12-22
John 7:1-2,10,25-30

‘The Assault upon the Just’ is a major theme that cut across sacred scripture and the human lifeworld in general. In our first reading, we have the famous persecution of just one by his own people. The people allowed their anger get the best of them. They mocked his good deeds as coming from God and test his patience and virtues by plotting his shameful death.

The same assault upon the prophets flows into today’s gospel as the mob fiercely opposed Jesus and plot to kill Him. This people in the temple that Jesus was addressing felt highly offended and wanted to kill him in the temple in Jerusalem; they had forgotten that it is the house of God who will judge all wicked acts; all forms of evil and sin.

They were in the presence of God but had failed to recognize him instead they went to the extent of finding every little possibility to have him killed. They made used of false accusations, gossip, malice, aggravations, mockery and rumors to draw people into their own circle of jealousy and hatred in order to despise the Son of God; his teaching and good works .Their evil thoughts led to cruel torture and death for someone who came to save them from sin and death.

Jesus was made an outcast so that we can be brought into God’s kingdom. By His wounds, we are healed. Is their someone you know that is outstanding, charming, popular that all seems to be perfect for such that when we see them we feel so inadequate? The people that Jesus was addressing could not measure up to Jesus and in their malice and jealousy avoided their own failures and discredited the just man.

We might not be as violent as this mob but we all know that false accusations as small as it seems to be can actually spread like wildfire to destroy other people’s life. Falsehood can take a furious life of it’s own and have devastating effects on people, and just like erosion, they can begin small but later become too big for us to handle.

Jesus asked the mob today if they really know him? If you know that Jesus is the Son of God who will believe in him. If you truly know who Jesus is, you will follow his comkands
Our faith has Christians, will go through trials but as we all know, patience is a handmade and daughter of faith and hope.Let us be patient especially when we are confronted by others’ performance.

May we continue to praise God in thanksgiving ng for all the graces, gifts and favours he has bestowed son all mankind.

May the Lord grant us wisdom to make us know him, love him and serve him more for the rest of our lives. Amen.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
