Do Whatever He Tells You

If we ask for anything, he will hear us
Just do whatever he tells you.

1 John 5:14-21
John 2:1-11

Though the blushing of Christmas is ending, the feast has just began. We turn our minds to the Wedding feast at Cana and we immediately see Mary’s action as a cause of joy, solace of hearts, intercessor, and help in time of need so that the glory of God can be made manifest in any given situation. Mary’s presence reveals Jesus’ presence and a light that cannot be diminished and a glory revealed.

Already Jesus’ conception in the womb of Mary and her giving birth to her Son seals forever the incredible mystery of God’s love for us as human beings and for our world of which we are a part.
That is the reassuring teaching of our Christian faith that we can approach God in confidence in our prayer.

Our Lady’s appeal, “Do whatever he tells you” is linked to our obedience and trust in Jesus. It is an obedience that demands promptness and eagerness to carry out the task given even when we do not know what to do or where the strength will come from. We all need help and our help is in Christ.

We can take it to heart as we journey in this New Year, that come what may, we need to always approach God in humility and trust in our prayers, and be confident that he will hear and answer us in his time. We have to wait even if we have offered our best because indeed the best is yet to come from our Lord. Christ is the centerpiece of our lives and in him, all hope is fulfilled.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
