Family Of 9-year-old Astroworld Victim Turns Down Travis Scott’s Offer To Pay For Funeral

The family of the youngest victim of the Astroworld Festival stampede has reportedly turned down Travis Scott’s offer to pay for the boy’s funeral expenses.

Responding to Scott’s letter expressing remorse over Ezra’s death and an offer to cover the boy’s funeral expenses, the Blount family lawyer Bob Hilliard wrote: “Your client’s offer is declined. I have no doubt Mr. Scott feels remorse. His journey ahead will be painful. He must face and hopefully see that he bears some of the responsibility for this tragedy.”

Scott’s lawyer Daniel Petrocelli made the offer on behalf of his client in a letter to Bob Hilliard and his co-lawyers last week.

“Travis is devastated by the tragedy at the Astroworld festival and grieve for the families whose loved ones have died or were injured,” the news outlet reported, writing Wednesday, a day after the boy was laid to rest, The news outlet reported.

“Travis is committed to helping families who are suffering in the Houston community to begin the long process of healing and healing. On the other hand, Travis would like to pay for the funeral expenses of Mr. Blount’s son. ,” Petrocelli said.

The attorney also emphasized that accepting Scott’s offer “would not affect” the lawsuit filed by Ezra’s father, Treston, against his client and other parties regarding the death.

In his response, Hilliard reportedly wrote: “Maybe, and I hope there is redemption and growth for him on the other side of this painful process – and maybe one day, allowing some healing for the once afflicted.” And the acceptance of responsibility by Mr. Scott and others, Treston and Mr. Scott can be found because there is healing in that.”

He continued: “Losing a child in the same way that Treston has lost Ezra is painful. As a parent, Treston can’t help but gush over this terrible thought.” The final minutes were filled with terror, anguish, suffocation, and at worst surrounded by strangers, his father fainted under the unruly crowd.

Hilliard also revealed that he and Crump also rejected a suggested meeting between Scott and the boy’s family.

“We were very determined. With all due respect, no. This isn’t a photo-op story here. It’s a ‘who’s responsible and why’ type of investigation. And he’s on the shortlist,” he told the outlet about the artist.

When Scott opened his set at Houston’s NRG Park on November 5, Ezra was sitting on his father’s shoulders. Both were caught in the chaos when the fans reached the stage.

The boy’s death raised the death toll in the tragic concert to 10. Eight victims were pronounced dead on the night of the show. The ninth victim was Bharti Shahani, a 22-year-old college student.

Crump has filed civil lawsuits for the Blount family and nearly 100 other families against various individuals and entities associated with the tragic concert.

However, a $2 billion lawsuit has been filed against Travis Scott, Drake, Apple Music, Live Nation, and NRG Stadium, which was where the event was held, on behalf of the 282 victims who are represented by San Antonio-based attorney Thomas J. Henry.

May the souls of all those that lost their lives at the concert rest in peace, Amen.
