FFP Charges: Man City Could Face 80 points Deduction – EPL Official

If Manchester City is found guilty in their impending hearing on their 115 Premier League FFP charges, they might face a 70-80 point deduction that would assure relegation to the Championship.

Manchester City’s hearing is slated to begin in September, with procedures lasting about ten weeks.

The Premier League winners, who have won the title in each of the last four seasons, have denied any wrongdoing. If found guilty, the club may face severe penalties, including fines and point reductions.

According to an unidentified Premier League executive, any points penalty will be between 70 and 80 points, almost ensuring relegation. Last season, City finished with 91 points, 65 ahead of Luton Town in 18th position.

“The collective view I’ve heard is that an appropriate sanction would have to be a points deduction so substantial — we are talking here between 70 and 80 points — that it guarantees City a season in the Championship,” the unnamed exec told The Athletic (via The Mirror).

Another unnamed source stated that the club could face deductions for three consecutive seasons, jeopardising their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Earlier this week, Premier League chief Richard Masters stressed the significance of resolving Manchester City’s dispute as quickly as possible.

“It is time now for the case to resolve itself,” Masters told BBC Sport.“It’s been going on for a number of years and I think it’s self-evident that the case needs to be heard and answered.”

City won the Premier League for a record-tying fourth time in a row. After finishing ahead of Arsenal in the last season.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
