Friday Of Week 32 in Ordinary Time

2 John 4-9
Psalm 118(119):1-2,10-11,17-18
Luke 17:26-37

Where the Body is, there the vultures will be gathered together.” (Lk. 17:37 ; Matthew 24:28).

In both Matthew 24:37-39 and Luke 17:26-27, Jesus refers to “the days of Noah,” highlighting the wicked individuals who were “destroyed” in the Flood (Luke) or “taken away” (Matthew). He is illustrating that His second coming will resemble these times; this message is reiterated in both passages.

In Matthew, He further states, “One will be taken… the other left,” emphasizing that His focus is on the wicked and that the verb indicates what will happen to them—namely, death.

When Jesus’ disciples inquire about the fate of those who are taken, His response can be understood literally. This aligns with the prophecies found in Revelation 19:17-18, 21, and Ezekiel 39:4, 17-20.

Additionally, Job 39:27-30 mentions eagles, concluding with the phrase, “and where the slain is, there it is,” suggesting that these eagles will clear away the remains of those who have fallen.

Moreover, eagles symbolize the elect in the true coming of Christ (Matthew 24:28), contrasting with false prophets (Matthew 24:23-26). It is essential to stay vigilant, as we should not be consumed by self-preservation.

Surviving physically until Christ’s return may lead to destruction if we become apostates and He arrives unexpectedly, “like a thief in the night.” Wisdom dictates that we must always be prepared, for we do not know the day or the hour of His coming.

Today's Quote

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
