Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the nominees for the 2025 CAF Awards – Women’s Categories on Wednesday.
The award celebrates the standout performers in African women’s football over the past year.
Ajibade and Okoronkwo were both instrumental in Nigeria winning its 10th WAFCON title in July.
Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie, who ranked 4th for the Yashin Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards, is nominated for the goalkeeper of the year award.
The announcement marks the build-up to the prestigious CAF Awards ceremony, which will honour players, coaches, and teams that have made significant contributions between 6 January and 15 October 2025.
CAF stated that the shortlist reflects performances across domestic, continental, and international competitions, with 10 nominees selected in each category.

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
