Influencer Andrew Tate Released From House Arrest
The influencer was ordered today by a court in Bucharest to be placed under judicial control, which is a less severe form of restraint, and released from his home arrest while he awaits trial on allegations of human trafficking.
Tate, his brother Tristan, and two suspects who are Romanian women were all charged in June with rape, human trafficking, and organizing a group to engage in the s*xual exploitation of women.
The accused have refuted the charges.
A judge has 60 days to review the case files to guarantee their legitimacy in the preliminary chamber of the Bucharest court, where it is currently pending under Romanian law. Before that procedure is finished, the trial won’t begin.
The Bucharest Court of Appeals declared in a written decision on Friday that it “replaces the measure of house arrest with that of judicial control for a period of 60 days from August 4 until October 2.”
The four suspects are permitted to leave the residence under the new law, but not the Romanian city of Bucharest or the neighboring county of Ilfov. The cops must periodically check in with them. Additionally, they are forbidden from making contact with the victims.
The Tate brothers, who hold dual citizenship in the US and the UK, have been under house arrest since April while a probe into the mistreatment of seven women, who, according to prosecutors, were seduced by fraudulent claims of relationships, is ongoing.
They have been detained by the police since December 29.
Tate, a self-described misogynist, has amassed millions of fans by preaching a lifestyle that is extremely masculine and, in the opinion of his detractors, is demeaning to women.
