The tape bracelet from Balenciaga’s most recent collection has caused controversy ever since it was introduced.
The bracelet in question is labeled with the Balenciaga logo and the word “adhesive” but otherwise looks just like a standard roll of transparent tape.
With its distinctive designs, the fashion house often pushes the boundaries, but netizens (online users) think they may have gone a bit too far this time.
Balenciaga has come under fire for charging more than $4,000 for a transparent plastic “bracelet” tape. Known as the “Gaffer Bangle,” it is a large transparent roll of tape with the words “Balenciaga Adhesive — Made in France” printed within.
It costs an outrageous amount, yet reportedly looks exactly like a regular tape.
“What’s sad is that #Balenciaga designed a bracelet that looks like a roll of tape and they’re charging $4.000 for it. What’s even more sad is that stupid people are going to buy it smh (shaking my head),” commented an X (formerly Twitter) user.
Another added “This is the hottest accessory for spring, the Balenciaga tape bracelet. Will you be wearing it and showing all of your friends how fashionable (and rich) you are?”

“Yeah, Balenciaga is definitely laughing their minds off managing to convince people to buy a tape bracelet. Bro wtf.” said another user.
Other users claimed that the company loves to enable wealthy people to cosplay as poor. According to Title Mag, “Balenciaga grabbed a megaphone and shouted: Poverty but make it (somewhat) desirable!”
