WEDNESDAY OF THE TENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME – 9/6/2021

2 Corinthians 3:4-11: The new covenant is the covenant of Spirit.

Resp. Psalm 98(99):8-9: You are holy, O Lord our God.

Matthew 5:17-19: I have not come to abolish the law and the Prophets but to complete them.

REFLECTION

Scriptures tells us that the Law was given through Moses. grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:17. The people thought that when the Messiah comes, he will liberate them from the law. With the statement of Jesus Christ In today’s gospel “ I have come to fulfill the law”, (Matt. 5:17), the tone changes. He came to perfect the law and prophets through obedience to the Father. The fulfillment of the Law is built on Love. Love for God and Love for neighbor. Love built on sacrifice. Through his life giving sacrifice, Christ renewed all actions of man and requirements of the law towards holiness and graciousness Yet the world we live in is engrossed with disobedience, deception, wickedness and hatred. Through love we can heal the world. Through love we can offer peace to others. Through love we can fulfill the law. May God give us the grace to be obedient to Him. Amen.
