KZN Police Are “Quite Certain” They Will Track Down AKA’s Killers

Police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) are certain they will catch the shooters who killed acclaimed artist Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.

AKA was shot at close range by a gunman on Florida Road in Durban two weeks ago, killing him.

Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, an intimate friend of AKA, was also shot and killed during the alleged hit, which the authorities believe was intended for AKA.

“Detectives from the Provincial Organized Crime Unit are looking into the situation. Although the investigation is quite thorough, we are optimistic that the offenders will be brought to justice, according to police provincial spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker.

Police Minister Bheki Cele made the announcement last week that Brigadier Vela Cele, a decorated top officer, had been chosen to lead the murder inquiry.

He played a key role in the arrest of the individual responsible for the rape and murder of Uyinene Mrwetyana, a 19-year-old student at UCT.

At the time, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the provincial commissioner of KZN SAPS, stated that police had revealed that people’s telephones had been confiscated and statements had been obtained in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng as part of continuing investigations.

Mkhwanazi noted that teams were checking all videos and analyzing footage after police also got ballistic complaints.

The hit guys hired to kill the “All Eyes on Me” hitmaker may have received payments totaling close to R250 000 ( $13,709.54 USD), according to a local taxi boss.

The individual told TimesLive that attacks might cost anywhere between R10,000 and R500,000 to kill a regular person without security. According to the cab driver, carrying out a hit on a person who has security may take months.

Last weekend, AKA was buried in Johannesburg’s Westpark Cemetery. May his soul continue to rest in peace and may his killers find no rest.
