LASTMA Averts Fire Explosion, Arrests Tanker Driver

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority operatives successfully averted a potential fire explosion involving a petrol-laden tanker on the Stadium Bridge, heading towards Barracks/Ojuelegba on Funsho Williams Avenue, in the Surulere area of Lagos.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, was disclosed in a press statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq.

The statement confirmed that a Conoil tanker, loaded with Petroleum products, had toppled onto a Volkswagen Golf car, spilling its contents across the opposite side of the expressway.

To prevent the risk of a fire explosion, LASTMA officials acted as the first responders and promptly alerted other emergency response units, including the LASEMA Response Unit and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, while the driver of the Conoil tanker, Sefiyu Adamu, was arrested and handed over to the Police for further investigation.
