Man Shares The Disgusting Reason You Need To Hide Your Toothbrush When Staying At A Hotel

A realtor used TikTok to warn travelers staying at hotels about packing their items safely in their suitcases before leaving their rooms.

His realization of this issue came while staying at a hotel, when, after momentarily leaving his room, he discovered something unsettling regarding the condition of his toothbrush.

According to the Realtor, the hotel’s cleaning staff cleaned the room with his toothbrush.

Lavell Jackson disclosed that he was lodging at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas at the time of the embarrassing occurrence in a TikTok video that has received over 160,000 views. Jackson said that the hotel staff had used his toothbrush when he left his room to attend the Remax R4 Convention when he was in town.

When Jackson left his room to attend the Remax R4 Convention while he was in town, he claimed that the hotel personnel had cleaned with his toothbrush.

Jackson claimed that when he challenged staff about it, they behaved in a “nasty” manner, though he did not elaborate on how the personnel cleaned his room with his toothbrush. They tried to patch things up by giving him a new toothbrush and a meager $50 credit.

“This isn’t anything I made up. I don’t know what to say,” Jackson remarked. “Some businesses simply need to perform better.”

When Jackson shared his incident online, others were horrified and gave him advice about when, if at all, he should stay there again or at any other hotel

“I always hide my toothbrush traveling,” one user commented. “I feel like they might just accidentally drop it in the toilet or on the floor, and I’ll never know, so I’d rather just put it away while they clean the room.”

“I wrap my toothbrush in a paper towel and put it in a Ziploc bag when traveling. I never put everything out on the counter,” another commenter wrote.

Jackson responded that it was “not hard” for him to see it on the bristles when a user questioned how he was certain that the hotel personnel had cleaned his room with his toothbrush.

“I knew something was wrong as soon as it hit my tooth,” he continued.

Employees at Mandalay Bay Resort have not responded to Jackson’s account in an official capacity, although other staff members claimed that such incidents frequently happen.

To prevent situations such as these, it is advisable to store your toothbrush in a sealed container.

Leaving your toothbrush out in the open in a hotel bathroom presents additional hygiene hazards, because it may become contaminated by airborne particles, cleaning agents, or other guests’ germs. Disposable toothbrushes and holders that allow you to store them covered are ideal to have when traveling.
