Mary is the mother of all those who are alive in Christ.
On November 21, 1964, an incredible moment unfolded during the Second Vatican Council when Pope Paul VI officially bestowed the extraordinary title of Mary, Mother of the Church! This remarkable designation highlights Mary’s vital role as the Mother of God and Jesus, who is not only our Savior but also the Head of the Church.
Imagine her unique contribution to the work of redemption—she embraced her role as the mother of all the redeemed, even before Jesus took his final breath on the Cross. In that pivotal moment, when Jesus said, “Son, behold your mother; Mother, behold your son,” he entrusted her to us all, making her the mother of the mystical body of Christ!
Fast forward to March 3, 2018, when the beloved Pope Francis proclaimed that we should celebrate Mary, the Mother of the Church, every Monday after Pentecost! This celebration is a vibrant way to deepen our Marian devotion and embrace the nurturing spirit of the Church. Through this memorial, we are invited to learn from Mary, gaining insights and wisdom from her remarkable life. Her resounding “Yes” to God stands as a powerful example, inspiring us to respond with zeal as we navigate our own journeys and devote ourselves to serving the Church.
As we look to Mary, our steadfast ally and help of Christians, we are reminded that we can achieve great things through her intercession. Let’s pray together, seeking the guidance and protection of the Holy Spirit, so we can boldly witness the transformative power of Christ’s Resurrection in our lives!
