SET AND ATTAIN MORE GOALS THAN MAKING RESOLUTIONS

Happy New Year 2024. It is a new year and it is here already. Today is the beginning of another secular calendar year and there is no other way to begin than to start with the Lord God Almighty. We give thanks for the blessings of the previous year and for bringing us to another wonderful year. At the beginning of the year, most of us make resolutions like a to-do list and sometimes we fall short of attaining them. We can actually achieve them if we set them as goals we usually aim at. We can put positivity into the things we are doing right and concretize them more. Just be extraordinary in the ordinary things of life.

In today’s liturgical readings, we see that God had a bigger picture of humanity’s fallen state by sending His only begotten Son born of a virgin.
Instead of a majestic arrival in a royal court, God chose a young virgin to become the mother of Jesus, and her child was born in humble surroundings.  Instead of a royal proclamation of his birth, God chose shepherds, considered by some to be on the lowest rungs of society, to proclaim that the Messiah had been born in Bethlehem. 

We too can make our plans and projects in this marvelous exchange by putting God first in all we do and being careful about how we do them. We do not need to be superhuman beings to do things correctly just take more interest and more attention in the ordinary things of life and you see them coming out in radiant beauty. Mary had a special child- the Saviour of the world yet she was always there assisting him just like a mother is expected to do but she did it in a godly way. Ask her to help you to be true and godly in your approach to life. May she guide and walk with us throughout this year just like she walked with her son. Amen.
