Mohbad: ‘I Don’t Want To Lose My Son’ — Primeboy’s Mum Cries Out

The mother of Ibrahim ‘Primeboy’ Owodunni has cried out for help over the detention of her son by the Lagos police with respect to the investigation into the death of Mohbad.

Mohbad died on September 12 and was buried the next day.

The circumstances surrounding his death have continued to stir up controversies on social media.

Several suspects — including Feyisola Ogedengbe, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Primeboy — are currently in police custody amid the investigation into Mohbad’s death.

In a now-viral video on Monday, Primeboy’s mother begged Iyabo Ojo, the actress, journalist Oriyomi Hamzat and Nigerians at large to “intervene,” adding that “I do not want to lose my son”.

She also said she raised Primeboy “to be of good behaviour”, arguing that “I do not have a child that can perpetrate such an act”.

“My fellow Nigerians. My patriot Nigerians I am addressing this to you. I came out because of you. I beg you in God’s name have mercy on me. Iyabo Ojo, as you are going and coming, you will not experience evil. I know you always say the truth. It is me, Iya Prime talking. Primeboy’s mother is the one speaking,” she said.

“Please I do not have anything. I do not have nobody. I am from a humble background. That is why I taught my children how to be content with whatever they have. All mothers please stand for me. He is my first child. Do not allow me to lose him. Do not let them use my son to settle war. Hamzat, please help me. Your children will not go missing. I do not have a child that can perpetrate such an act. Ibrahim and I were also saddened by Mohbad’s death too.

“I sell rice and I do not step out of my boundary. I sell my stuff outside of my house. My children cannot do such a thing. There is no killer in my lineage.

“That Mohbad you talking about, he once lived with me and my children. Come and ask in our area. We stayed 24 hours together. Mohbad paid for where I am selling outside. They have used Mohbad to sadden me. Do not allow them to take away Ibrahim from me.”

On Friday, the Lagos police  named  Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who injected Mohbad as the “prime suspect” in the singer’s death.

Thousands of Nigerians have demanded justice for Mohbad in nationwide protests.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
