Motherhood: Gratitude – An Important Virtue Needed For Children’s Emotional Growth 2

Hello Great Mothers!

According to a report, children of this century are not as thankful as they should be. Also, according to a National Poll report, half of the parents interviewed are worried that they are giving their kids too much, and two in five admit they are occasionally “embarrassed by how selfish their child acts,” suggesting that today’s kids are not appreciative of what they have.

According to Mott Poll co-director Sarah Clark, M.P.H., Many parents may consider their childhoods and question if they are providing their children with too many material possessions in contrast. Parents may have observed their child acting self-centered, such as by refusing to share with other kids or complaining about a gift.

She also reported that being grateful is linked to experiencing greater joy, having solid relationships, having more adventures, and even having favorable effects on one’s health. “However, children rarely learn to be grateful on their own; they need to be fostered in a way that is appropriate for their age.

Here is one of the ways to teach your children the act of gratitude.

Teach them to say “thank you” when necessary:

A very good way to teach children the act of gratitude is to remind them to say ‘ thank you” whenever the need arises. Reminding children to behave properly is one of the methods mothers use frequently to teach their children the act of gratitude.

However, children shouldn’t simply repeat these phrases without understanding what they signify. This is very necessary as such lessons will help the children understand the significance of the phrase ” thank you”. To achieve this, it is important we teach them nig just the phrase but the reason for saying it. For example; after receiving a gift from an auth, we can teach our kids to show gratitude by saying “Thank you for the pair of shoes, Aunty”.
