Motherhood: Prayer: The Foundation Of Parenting 3

Hello Great Mothers!

According to the Great Commission in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus urges His apostles to make disciples of all nations. However, seeking the help of God through prayers is like carrying out the great commission in our homes. What a great honor! This way of parenting enables every day to be a mission to serve the Lord rather than a chore or a burden.

Making prayer the foundation of our parenting style means parenting with the Holy Spirit. One of the ways we can do this as discussed in my previous article, is by making prayer our priority.

We are imperfect beings, so unknowingly, we can make wrong decisions concerning our children which can affect them negatively in the future. More so, we may discipline or correct our children in a way that will provoke them as the Holy Bible warned. Thereby making them lose their trust in us. The implication of this is that they will prefer to always open up to their friend than you. And they may be led astray.

Another way of making prayer the foundation of our parenting;

Listening to His voice;
Making prayer the foundation of your parenting means parenting with the Holy Spirit. Following His voice in your parenting will be one of the most critical aspects of Christian parenting. It’s not always easy to do so when friends and family may have a different outlook on how you should raise your child. However, remember this, God knows exactly what will work for your children and what will be non-negotiable. Rather than trying to fit the world’s standard into your home, seek to let God’s will be done in all things. There may be times that you will need to say “no” or “not yet,” not because it’s bad but because you don’t feel the Lord is leading you to do so. Parenting with the Holy Spirit means you are willing to make hard decisions for the greater good of your child. You can trust that whatever He is leading you to do will be the best choice, even if you don’t understand it at the moment. Simply do what He calls you to do, and allow Him to handle everything else.
