Motherhood: Raising Godly Children In An Ungodly World 1
Hello Great Mothers!
Prov 22:6 says’ Train up a child the way he should go, when he is old, he will not depart from it.
The Bible in Ps 24: 1 ‘says ‘ The earth is the Lord and everything in it. Then why is the world ungodly?
The earth indeed belongs to the Lord, but the system in operation, i.e. the way of life of the people living in the world is ungodly. You will agree with me that the world is full of immoralities. We live in a world where immorality is celebrated. In today’s world, everyone behaves as they like, it doesn’t matter if such behavior is moral, as long as it feels fantastic.
The Encyclopedia of world problems and human potential defines Immorality – taken to include conduct or thinking contrary to established standards of morality, from which they may differ according to race, culture, and creed – may consist of acts of violence, s*xual misconduct, profanity, blasphemy or other acts considered subversive, perverse or harmful; it also encompasses ideological deviation, including heresy, subversive literature, and pornography, or obscenity of any kind. It may even include such afflictions as alcoholism and drug addiction.
With the world full of immoral behavior, Is it possible to raise a Godly child in this world that is full of immoralities? Is it possible to raise children whose ways of life conform to the laws and standards of God? As a mother, has this question ever crossed your mind?
This question crossed my mind a few years into my marriage. Then I had two kids, and the way immoral acts were being displayed and celebrated bothered me so much. Additionally, the way these activities are being advertised and forced into people’s life through social media and all forms of communication channels disturbs me so much that I thought about it all the time. The solution to this dilemma was one day engraved in my heart by the Holy Spirit. He says‘’ Tell them who they are’’.
This means that to raise a godly child in this immoral world, we must continuously remind them of who they are in Christ. In doing so, we will be able to raise children whose moral standards do not reflect those of this world, as stated in Romans 12:2.
