Every Christian family ought to focus on establishing a strong and regular prayer life in their home. A well-known saying goes, “A prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian; a prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian.” We would not want our children to grow up and become helpless Christians who prey on) the devil. The importance of establishing a strong and dependable prayer life in our kids can thus not be overstated.

Past series have different discussions on the importance of teaching our children how to method. We shall be rounding up this series by teaching children the pattern of prayer.

We worship a strong but well-organized God. He would not want us to just approach Him and talk to Him. Jesus demonstrated how to pray with the ‘Our Father’.

We must instill in our kids the proper pattern for praying:

Worship
Teach your kids that worship comes before prayer. Sincere worship restores our hearts to confidence in and submission to God.

Forgiveness
Teach your children to confess their sins to God and to ask for his forgiveness. Encourage your kids to rush to God and confess their sins when they are sincerely repentant in their hearts. This assists them to understand the joy of forgiving others.

Petition
God enjoys hearing our prayers. So, encourage your kids to approach God and make their requests known to Him. Encourage your children to make requests following God’s will. You can use the scripture to teach your children to make meaningful prayer requests.

Thanksgiving
Teach your children to respond to all of God’s blessings with gratitude.

Prayer provides us with strength when we are weak, peace during storms, and clarity when we need to make decisions. My fellow mothers, do not only pray for your children, but also teach them how to pray when they are still very young so that as they grow, they will always find their peace, strength, and direction in the Lord and not in the world.
