Motherhood: Tips For Raising Emotionally Intelligent Kids (3)

Hello Great Mothers!

In recent times, there has been a noticeable rise in emotional instability, with increasing cases of depression, suicidal tendencies, and uncontrollable anger leading to threats to life, and property destruction. Many of these issues stem from emotional instability, often resulting from a lack of emotional intelligence.

In a previous article, emotional intelligence was described as the ability to understand and manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. It also involves essential soft skills for building and maintaining positive relationships, whether at work, in business, or within one’s family and social circles.

As we focus on instilling good morals and providing quality education for our children, it is equally important to raise them to be emotionally intelligent. This will help them become well-balanced individuals who can adapt to society and succeed in both their professional and personal lives, as success often hinges on the ability to build and maintain good relationships.

In a previous discussion, we explored ways to nurture emotionally intelligent children, focusing on how to model emotional intelligence. Let’s continue with additional strategies:

2) Understand What Triggers You:
● Recognizing what triggers your emotions is essential for managing them effectively. Teach your children to do the same by setting an example. For instance, “I get frustrated when I miss the staff bus because it makes my commute stressful and affects my productivity. To avoid this, I leave home early to ensure I don’t miss the bus.”

By understanding triggers and taking proactive steps, you demonstrate emotional regulation to your children.
By modeling these behaviors, you guide your children to develop strong emotional intelligence, equipping them to handle their emotions and relationships effectively throughout their lives.

We don’t need to be perfect mothers to raise our children, but with God’s guidance, genuine love, patience, and understanding, we can nurture children who will positively impact the world.

Bye!
