The Catholic Diocese of Kontagora, Niger State, has released the full list of 265 students and teachers of St Mary’s School, Papiri, who remain in captivity following the mass abduction at the school on 21 November.
Armed men attacked the Catholic-run institution on 21 November and abducted 315 people, including 303 students and 12 teachers. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State later said that 50 of the abducted students escaped from captivity, reducing the number of those still missing.
On Monday, the diocese published the names of 239 pupils from the nursery and primary sections, 14 secondary school students and 12 teachers and non-academic staff who are yet to regain their freedom. The diocese released the list in a bid to ensure accurate record-keeping and to keep families and the public informed.
Church authorities and community leaders have called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining captives. Many of those abducted are very young children. Below are the names of the teachers and students who remain in custody, as released by the Catholic Diocese of Kontagora.
