Niger State Police Promises To Tackle Crime More Effectively, Claims To Be Better Prepared For Criminals

Bala Ciroma, Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7, has told Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force will not desist in its attempts to purge the country of criminals and other vices, saying that it will continue to obstruct their operations.

On a familiarization visit to the Police Officers Mess in Minna on Tuesday, Ciroma said this to officers of the Niger State Police Command.

“We are now thinking ahead of the criminals and we will continue to put a clog in their wheels before they start operating,” he said.

The AIG stated that the police are better aware than ever before of the obstacles that citizens face and that equipment has been made readily available to address these issues.

“The challenges facing Nigerians are already known and plans have now been put in place to deal with the various challenges,” he said, promising safety of life and property of the people of Niger State and citizens of the country.

He further stated that Nigerians will be recruited into the force soon and that cars and other logistical support have already been supplied for successful operations across the country.

He urged Nigerians to partner with the police in their new endeavor to purge the country of all types of menace.

He said, “We cannot be everywhere and that is why we need to strategize to close up the gap. We should liaise with the people with our eyes, ears, and body and bring them close to the security architect to succeed by way of community Policing.”

Ciroma justified his visit to Minna as a morale booster for the region’s officers and young men, guaranteeing them that their needs will be provided.

Monday Bala Kuryas, the state’s Commissioner of Police, had previously detailed some of the Command’s issues, including a lack of manpower to combat crime in the state.

“The state is experiencing a shortage of manpower to confront the frequent kidnapping and other crimes confronting the state. We are therefore calling on the AIG to look into solving them immediately,” Kuryas continued.
