Senator Ireti Kingibe has strongly criticized Nigerian youths, stating that their primary behaviors are being “complacent, grumbling, and insulting their leaders.”
During a discussion with journalists, Kingibe, who represents the FCT in the Senate, remarked, ‘’I have said it, Nigerian youths are complacent. They remain silent, only grumbling. We need constructive dialogue. All I hear is complaints and insults. That’s not productive. The nation belongs to the youths; they must take ownership. Instead of presenting a clear agenda or program, they threaten strikes everyone knows won’t happen—how does that accomplish anything.’’
When journalists inquired about what Nigerian youths should do to reclaim their nation, she responded, “This is your country, take charge of it. I don’t have another country, so we must make it work. We must do whatever is necessary to ensure this country functions for everyone.”
She further emphasized that Nigerians have not made a unified effort to hold their leaders accountable for doing what is right.
“I haven’t seen a unified push for change, and all I observe from most people is a focus on ‘’me.’’ I want to see action. I’m certain other leaders want to see action. All I see are young people who complain and endlessly insult their leaders. They fail to engage their leaders constructively.”
A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
