NSCDC Nabs Nine In Jigawa For Cattle Rustling

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended nine individuals in Jigawa State for suspected cattle rustling and vandalism of public infrastructure.

The suspects were presented at the NSCDC Command headquarters in Dutse, where the State Commandant, Bawa Boddinga, outlined the details surrounding their arrests. He noted that the operations were part of continuous security efforts to address the increasing criminal activities throughout the state.

Boddinga named two of the suspects as Adamu Hassan, 40, from Kantamari village in Kaugama Local Government Area, and Hassan Adamu, 31, from Malam-Madori Local Government Area, both of whom were implicated in cattle rustling activities. Seven others, aged between 14 and 35, were detained for their involvement in vandalizing critical infrastructure in Danmanomi village, Gumel Local Government Area.

Items recovered included stolen livestock, such as six goats, four sheep, and a calf, as well as a motorcycle, a bus, farming tools, bows, and arrows.

Boddinga emphasized the NSCDC’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements and upholding law and order. “We will make Jigawa a zero-crime state. Our divisional inspectors and area commanders have been directed to intensify surveillance and operations in all nooks and crannies,” he said.

He further stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full scope of each suspect’s involvement, with prosecution to proceed accordingly. “The NSCDC is also probing possible links between these suspects and larger criminal networks operating in the state,” Boddinga said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
