Osinbajo Attends Screening Of “Gammy And The Living Things”

The animated musical “Gammy and the Living Things” was screened exclusively at Film House Cinemas at Landmark Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. The event’s Special Guest of Honour was His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Gammy and the Living Things” is a family-friendly animation musical that highlights Africa’s potential. The film combines Nigerian storytelling, music, and art with a Pan-African cast and a global perspective. It is a 13-track album that combines song remakes by prominent Nigerian music superstars from the 1980s and 1990s with unforgettable original tracks.

Over 40 animated characters were voiced by some of the top actors in Nigeria and Africa for the movie, which aspires to shift the narrative of African animation. Jude “MI” Abaga, Joke Silva, Bimbo Akintola, Segun Arinze, Pete Edochie, John Dumelo (from Ghana), Ruby Gyang, Bovi, the late Sadiq Daba, and Avril (from Kenya) are just a few of the great actors in the cast.

An remarkable array of musical artists, including TuFace, M.I. Abaga, Made Kuti, Timi Dakolo, Waje, Ric Hassani, Praiz, Johnny Drille, and Goya Menor, are included on the music album for the film titled “Rites of Passage”.

The album’s distinctive and alluring sound is enhanced by their legendary remakes of songs by musical legends including Blakky, Ras Kimono, Majek Fashek, The Mandators, and William Onyeabor.

Professor Osinbajo emphasized the potential opportunities in the creative industry, with a particular focus on the animation sector, at the occasion.

He emphasized the enormous potential for exportable content in the animation sector, which might result in the development of thousands of new jobs for young people in Nigeria.

The team at Utricle Studios and Uphorik Sounds were lauded by Professor Osinbajo for their excellent effort in creating a top-notch film of this caliber with a group of creatives located in Nigeria.

He called “Gammy and the Living Things” a ground-breaking first movie that showcases Africa’s enormous potential, inventiveness, ingenuity, and resourcefulness. The film, which wants to change how people around the world view African animation, is on track to become a streaming phenomenon.

The actors of the film, prominent musicians who appeared on the record, and titans of the media and entertainment industries graced the occasion. Ade Ipaye, the deputy chief of staff to the president, Babatunde Irukera, the executive vice chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Segun Awolowo, the former CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and current secretary of the National Action Committee on AFCFTA, Tayo Amusan, the chairman of the Persianas Group, and Alfred Okoigun, the GMD/CEO of Arco Group were notable attendees
