Otti’s Bold Promise: “My 2031 Successor Will Out‑perform Me” – Foundations Set to Break Abia’s Decades‑Long Barriers

Abia State Governor Alex Otti, speaking at a grand reception hosted by the Assemblies of God Church in Okaiuga‑Nkwoegwu, declared that whoever takes over from him in 2031 will achieve even greater results than his current administration. He emphasized that the “solid and irreversible foundation” he is laying now—through massive infrastructure renewal, fiscal discipline, and institutional reforms—will dismantle the long‑standing obstacles that have held the state back for years.

Otti noted that his government is still in its early phase, yet already:
– *Reconstructed roads* that had been abandoned for decades, reconnecting rural communities and boosting commerce.
– *Restored public‑service dignity* by paying salaries and pensions on time, a first in Abia’s history.
– *Introduced transparent, accountable governance*, with public funds now managed under strict fiscal rules.

He stressed that these achievements are just the beginning, and by 2031 the impact of his reforms will be evident across every sector—education, health, transport, and industry—making it impossible for the state to regress to its previous “old ways”.

The governor’s confidence is anchored in a *25‑year development plan* (2025‑2050) that has been signed into law, providing a legally binding roadmap for future administrations and ensuring continuity beyond his tenure. Development partners such as the UNDP and PIND have endorsed the plan, signaling national and international trust in Abia’s long‑term vision.

In short, Otti’s message is clear: the groundwork being laid today will not only transform Abia but also set a higher benchmark for his successor, who he believes will “be better than me” and finally break the state’s historic development curse.
