Rollercoaster Crashes At Germany Amusement Park, More Than 30 Injured

Two rollercoaster trains have crashed into each other at an amusement park in southern Germany, injuring at least 34 people, two of them are severely wounded.

One rollercoaster train braked heavily and another train collided with it at the Legoland park in Guenzburg, the German news agency DPA reported.

Three helicopters were sent to the scene, and fire and rescue services were called in to help.

It was not immediately clear how the crash happened. It took place in the station of the Fire Dragon rollercoaster, an amusement park spokesperson told DPA.

Last week, a woman died in another rollercoaster accident in an amusement park in Klotten in southwest Germany.

The 57-year-old woman fell out of the rollercoaster as it was moving and died of her injuries. The cause of the accident has not yet been identified.

The cause of the collision was unclear, but police are reviewing video recordings.
Park operators did not evacuate the park, and visitors reported no announcements being made to guests. The area was cordoned off, but the rest of the park continued to operate normally.
Journalists were blocked from the accident site, the DPA news agency reported.

According to the park, the roller coaster travels at speeds of up to 29 kilometers per hour (18 miles per hour). The park opened in 2002 and has 10 themed areas with more than 60 attractions and rides.
