1 John 5:14-21
Psalm 149:1-6,9
John 3:22-30

In his testimony concerning Jesus, John the Baptist emphasizes his role in pointing to Christ as the “Lamb of God.” He openly acknowledges his position, making it clear that he is not the Messiah. John expresses joy upon hearing that Jesus is engaging in the act of baptism, highlighting the shift towards Christ’s ministry.
As we transition into the year, a critical reflection emerges from John’s last recorded statement: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” This phrase encapsulates the profound theological concept of self-denial in the face of divine supremacy.
Imagining the process of being consumed by the essence of Christ invites a contemplation of spiritual transformation. This transformative process entails a diminishment of the self—specifically one’s ego—as an individual becomes increasingly aligned with Christ’s image. Those who immerse themselves in this relationship with Jesus often exhibit authenticity and heightened awareness, particularly regarding the needs of others.
The doctrine of the Incarnation suggests that Christ’s presence continues to manifest through His followers, embodying His mission and purpose in the world. This ongoing dynamic invites believers to engage actively in service and relational ministry, reflecting the living Christ in their interactions with others.
