Premier League And Scottish Football Postponed Following Queen’s Death.

The weekend’s football games in England and Scotland have been cancelled in light of The Queen’s death on Thursday.

After Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday, the games were postponed, and the nation is currently in a period of national mourning.

The Premier League, Championship, League One, and League Two have all been affected.

All non-League and grassroots games, as well as the beginning of the new Women’s Super League season, have also been postponed.

According to the Scottish FA, the SPFL, SWPL, and Highland & Lowland Leagues have also agreed that professional football games will be postponed.

In a statement on its official website, the Premier League said: “At a meeting on Friday, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“To honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed, including Monday evening’s game.

Richard Masters, Premier League Chief Executive, said: ‘We and our clubs would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty’s long and unwavering service to our country. As our longest-serving monarch, she has been an inspiration and leaves behind an incredible legacy following a life of dedication. This is a tremendously sad time for not just the nation, but also for the millions of people around the world who admired her, and we join together with all those in mourning her passing.’

“This is aligned with the approach that The FA and EFL will take with their competitions this weekend.

“Further updates regarding Premier League fixtures during the period of mourning will be provided in due course.”

Chelsea Sacks Thomas Tuchel, Hires Brighton’s Graham Potter.

Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of Chelsea FC, has been dismissed from his duties following a string of disappointing results since the season began.

This follows the club’s opening Champions League group stage encounter, a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb.

On Wednesday morning, the London club made the announcement on their official website.

The club wrote, “Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Thomas Tuchel.

“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club. Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup during his time here.

“As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.

“Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.

“There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made.”

Todd Boehly, the club’s new owner, has wasted no time in assigning a new manager as he already had plans before firing the German coach.

Chelsea FC has now hired Brighton’s manager, Graham Potter as the official new head coach.

The English man has signed a five-year contract, the Blues announced in an official statement released on Thursday afternoon.

Speaking on his move to Chelsea, Potter said, “I am incredibly proud and excited to represent Chelsea FC, this fantastic football club.

“I am very excited to partner with Chelsea’s new ownership group and look forward to meeting and working with the exciting group of players and developing a team and culture that our amazing fans can be proud of.

“I would also like to place my sincere thanks to Brighton & Hove Albion for allowing me this opportunity and in particular Tony Bloom and all the players, staff and supporters for their continued support during my time at the club.”

Manchester United Ends Arsenal’s Winning Streak.

Arsenal’s beautiful start to the season has come to a close following a 3-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Arsenal had hopes of winning its first six games of the season for the first time since 1947. They believed they had taken the lead in the 12th minute when Martinelli beautifully finished a through ball from Saka after Eriksen had been stripped of the ball by Odegaard.

Nevertheless, the goal was overturned as VAR instructed referee Tierney to look at the pitchside monitor, where he determined that Eriksen had been fouled by the captain of Arsenal before the buildup.

However, the home team took the lead later when Antony, playing his debut, finished from Rashford’s pass with a first-time left-footed finish into the bottom corner.

Arsenal earned a point in the second half after Saka’s goal but six minutes later, United struck back when Rashford gave them the lead again by smashing past Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and scoring again in the 74th minute to give the Reds a 3-1 victory.
