In moments of contemplation, Jesus sought wisdom from His Heavenly Father before selecting the twelve individuals who would embody faith and commitment to His mission (John 14:21-14).
This prompts the inquiry: Do you engage in prayer when faced with consequential decisions? What limitations exist regarding the efficacy of prayer? As stated in Romans 10:13, all who invoke the name of the Lord will find salvation.
When we call upon the name of the Lord, we elevate our thoughts toward God, fostering a bond characterized by the relationship between a parent and child. This connection encompasses companionship and sacrificial love, particularly relevant to today’s commemoration of the Apostles Simon the Zealot and Judas, the son of Alpheus.
These individuals were steadfast companions of Christ during the foundational period of Christianity and ultimately sacrificed their lives for the kingdom entrusted to us as a profound privilege. It is essential to recognize and pay heed to those whom God has placed in our lives, as they may indeed be virtuous individuals or messengers in disguise.
Moreover, Jesus emphasized the significance of presenting our requests to our Heavenly Father. If Jesus devoted entire nights to prayer before making pivotal decisions, it stands to reason that we should “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and engage with His Word to seek wisdom and direction.
Before proceeding with critical choices that define our existence, I urge you to earnestly pray to the Heavenly Father, who bestowed upon us His Son to atone for our sins, thereby guiding us towards righteousness on Earth and eternal fulfillment in Heaven. Amen.
