Submersible That Takes People To See Titanic Wreck Under The Sea Goes Missing

According to the private firm that runs the vessel, a Submersible on a tourist mission to explore the Titanic ruins off the coast of Southeast Canada has vanished.

In a brief statement, OceanGate Expeditions stated that it was “mobilizing all options” to save passengers on board the ship. It was unclear how many persons were missing at the time. Requests for comments were not immediately answered by the US Coast Guard.

According to media reports, the Coast Guard has begun search and rescue efforts. In an endeavor to restore contact with the submersible, many government agencies and deep water businesses have provided substantial support, which OceanGate is extremely grateful for.

According to the company’s website, the fifth Titanic “mission” of 2023 is presently underway and was supposed to begin last week and end on Thursday. According to the OceanGate website, the expedition, which starts in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and costs $250,000 per person, travels around 400 miles into the Atlantic to the debris location.

Passengers board Titan, a five-person submersible, and descend to the Titanic for around two hours in order to explore the wreck. In 1912, the Belfast-built passenger ship tragically sank during its first trip after colliding with an iceberg, killing over 1,500 passengers. Both nonfiction and fiction publications, as well as the 1997 hit film Titanic, have memorialized the tale.

According to media reports, a search is being conducted for the missing submersible.

A Canadian military aircraft and a Canadian Coast Guard vessel are aiding the search effort, which is being spearheaded by the US Coast Guard, according to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The business told BBC News that it was “exploring and mobilizing all options to bring the crew back safely.”

Our whole attention is on the submersible crew members and their families.
