Tragedy struck in Kebbi State, Nigeria, as heavily gunmen stormed Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, kidnapping 25 female students and killing Vice Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku, who tried to protect them. The attack occurred around 4 a.m. on Monday, with the assailants firing sporadically and breaching the school fence.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that police tactical units, soldiers, and vigilante groups have been deployed to rescue the abducted students and apprehend the perpetrators. President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to locate and rescue the girls, ensuring those responsible face justice.
This incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, describing the attack as “unacceptable” and urging security forces to act decisively. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has also called for urgent action to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
The attack is the latest in a series of mass kidnappings in Nigeria, highlighting the country’s ongoing security challenges.
