The Best Is Yet To Come!

The Best is Yet to Come!
Let us gain the wisdom of heart!!

Genesis 49:2,8-10
Matthew 1:1-17

The season of Advent invites us to enlarge and widen our spiritual vision.
To see and respond to God who beckons us into a future, he wants to create for us.

By Divine Providence, God has given us that future in our past. As we approach the season of Christmas, the liturgical readings focus us more on the nativity of Christ-that though, it happened in the past yet it is reoccurring in our present moments and life situation for us and for all creation. The best is yet to come!

The ‘O’ Antiphons of the Ancient Hymh “ O Come, O Come immanuel” appears in our reading signifying the titles of our Lord Jesus Christ – The Wisdom of Our God who orders all things nightly…teach us the way to go. The ordering of things by God is what we see in today’s readings.

In the first reading taken from the book of Genesis, we see Israel calling his children together on his sickbed and blesses them. To Judah, who is the least of his mother, was made mightier. In today’s gospel, we also see how God ordered the line of history for his son to be born. Figures like Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bethsheba, and Jesus’ mother -Mary appear in the infancy narratives of Matthew. Those that the world see as insignificant God raises mightily.

God has a plan for our history that is, our common history and personal history and that Gid is putting that action into plan through Our Wisdom. Let us in this advent season reflect on how to cooperate with God’s plan by putting action into plan. May we become more aware of God’s presence in our time and place.

Shalom
