The Birthday Of The Blessed Virgin Mary: Feast

Micah 5:1-4
Matt 1:1-16,18-23

Exult for joy heaven and earth, today is the birthday of our Lady, Mother, and Queen

Today is the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary-the Mother of Christ, the Mother and Queen of all Christian. A mother whose love is not ordinary. Right from the beginning of the creation account of the fall of man, she was already in the mind of God. Through her came the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ Our Lord.

In today’s first reading, Prophet Micah of Moreseth spoke about the coming of the Messiah, and in today’s Gospel, we have the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of Joseph, the Son of David, and the Son of Abraham -Our Father in faith. When we look at the genealogy of Jesus Christ, we see that the Lord has indeed done great things and there is nothing impossible for God to do. He makes the weak strong, the rejected he adopts, and the humble he exalts.

By becoming flesh, which he took upon him for us in the womb of the Virgin Mother Mary is ours in all its perfection. To us our gracious Lord communicates the spotless virtue of a stainless character; to us he gives the meritorious efficacy of a devoted life; on us he bestows the reward procured by obedient submission and incessant service. He makes the unsullied garment of his life our covering beauty; the glittering virtues of his character our ornaments and jewels; and the superhuman meekness of his death our boast and glory.

As we rejoice today on this wonderful occasion of the celebration of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we never cease to say Yes to God because this is what the celebration is all about. God has given us special gifts but above all, he has us his son through the ark of the new covenant, the sacred vessel of honor, our Lady and Mother.

May God grant you the grace of consistency and perseverance in the good works of faith. May all you do proclaim your faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. May your reward be good, great and eternal.
May Mary Queen of Heaven intercede for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
