The Holy Guardian Angels

Zechariah 8:1-8

THE ANGELS OF GOD ARE HERE WITH US!

In 2018 on this feast of the Memorial of the Guardian Angels, Pope Francis encouraged Christians to pray and speak to their guardian angel who “is not only with us but also sees God the Father. ” Pope Francis said. “The angel helps me walk along the path because he looks at the Father who knows the way. “Although, the doctrinal belief in the Guardian Angel is not a dogma of Faith, it is based on Sacred Scriptures. Each person’s Guardian Angel is an expression of God’s enduring love and care extended to everyone every day.

In Today’s Gospel (Mt 16:10), Jesus clearly states that even children have their Guardian Angels: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in Heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father Who is in Heaven.” Ps 91:1 teaches: “For He has given His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”
Thus, we can say that the angel is a daily access door toward transcendence to God.

Apart from the daily guide and guard of our Guardian angels, when someone has helped us we call him or her” an angel”. It really didn’t matter what type of help was given; I feel so special! I felt guided rather than controlled; accepted, rather than judged. The person who had helped me rebuild my life, rekindle my spirit and renew my faith in other humans, in myself, and in God. That’s why I called him or her an “angel.”

More importantly, when I recall the help that was given to me and those who have been “angels” to me, most of them are people of faith. Their care for me was an expression of their faith—I found out later that their assistance came along with many silent prayers, sometimes prayers of intercession for my needs, and sometimes prayers for guidance as to how to best help me. In other words, my “angels” were focused on me, but their eyes were fixed on God. It is on this note that I thank God for those humans in my life who have been like angels to me!

As we honor our Guardian Angels who have been given to us by God from the moment of our existence; committed to us, to light and guard us, and also direct and guide us, May they continue to lead us in the journey of life and towards heaven. And to everyone who has been of assistance to me spiritual, material, financial, and emotional support. You have made me special and I really appreciate the kind gesture. God bless you all!
