The Nativity of Saint John the Baptist

Isaiah 49:1-6
Psalm 138(139):1-3,13-15
Acts 13:22-26
Luke 1:57-66,80

“John is his name.”

Today, we remember the birth of St John the Baptist. St. John the Baptist is known for his boldness, his name in Hebrew translates to “Yahweh is gracious,” which beautifully embodies the essence of kindness and compassion! The Hebrew word for gracious, ḥānan, perfectly complements the notion of mercy, highlighted in Exodus 34:4, where God describes Himself as “merciful (racham) and very generous (ḥānan).” How incredible that these words resonate with such depth!

From before he was born, God had a distinct plan for John. His mere voice brought joy and healing to his parents, making him an extraordinary gift for the house of Israel. Chosen to be the prophet, he ignited a spark, preparing the way for something monumental—the incarnation of the Word! John was a beacon of humility and courage, courageously speaking truths that would ultimately lead to his martyrdom for Christ.

John the Baptist’s mission was nothing short of revolutionary; he sought to awaken his generation to the magnificent love and kindness of our Father! He proclaimed the most incredible message: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) This profound gift from our Heavenly Father is the highlight of our existence!

Sadly, the greatest tragedy lies in not embracing the immense blessing of Jesus. Today, many parents unknowingly harm their children by neglecting their faith. There’s simply no greater loss than that! It’s crucial for us to rally together, encouraging parents to embody their beliefs through example and guidance!

Let us follow in the footsteps of John the Baptist! May we be genuine, steadfast witnesses to Christ, shining brightly in the world! With unwavering dedication, let us strive to be great before both God and man.

God bless you abundantly today—embrace as you embrace the excitement of faith!

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
