The virgin is with Child, How prepared are you to accept Him?
Isaiah 7:10-14
Luke 1:26-38
In five days, we will celebrate the feast of Christmas. The nativity of God-man. The feast of obedience to the will of the Father by the Son for without the incarnation other mysteries of our salvation would not be attained. Christ took flesh and dwells among us. He is the image of the invisible God and the visible sign of God’s loving presence in the entire universe.
God has promised to save his people.
In the first reading taken from the book of prophet Isaiah, the prophet told the king to ask fora sign that God is with them and he save them. The King perceived this as a test. However, the son given. The sign that the fulfillment of this prophecy is at hand will be a virgin who conceives and bears a son and names him Emmanuel.
In the gospel passage for today, we recall the Annunciation of the Lord. The Angel Gabriel invites Mary, a virgin, to be the Mother of the Son of God, and she accepts.The submission to the will of God. She accepts whatever God is asking of her. In her heart she so totally trusts in God that she is able to say an unequivocal “yes” to whatever God wants at any given time or moment. And, at the moment of her “yes” the Son of God is conceived within her!And the angel left her.
So emerges the question for us; Do we have faith and trust that God is with us? Are we prepared to say yes to Him always? How prepared are you?” Are we ready to open our hearts to accept whatever God is asking of us? Can we move beyond our fears and insecurities to unequivocally trust in God’s will for us?
Lord Jesus, accept me as I present myself to you today praying to live only in you and to you. Let me be ready for whatever you offer me as little sacrifices for the love of you. May your will be done.
