A disturbing video from Asaba, Delta State, shows at least three police officers physically assaulting a man and seizing his car after a roadside stop. The footage, which quickly went viral, shows the officers shoving the victim, striking him with their shoes and rifle butts, and then driving off in his vehicle while he’s left on the ground pleading for help.
Delta State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, responded on X (formerly Twitter), labeling the officers’ conduct “unprofessional.” He confirmed that he had visited the officers’ base, found the vehicle missing, and said the command has already begun an investigation and will take “proper actions” against those involved.
The incident has sparked public outrage, with many calling for swift identification, suspension, and possible prosecution of the officers, as well as recovery of the stolen car. As of now, no names have been released, and it remains unclear whether the officers have been detained or the vehicle recovered.
