Tunde Onakoya, a Nigerian chess player, has shared some of his biggest regrets.
The Guinness World Record holder discussed the departmental stereotypes that are prevalent in secondary schools on his X handle.
He went on to say that his secondary school teachers had persuaded him that science class was for the brilliant kids and art class was for the dullards.
Tunde disclosed that he was a skilled debater at the time and that he wanted to practice law.
“One of my greatest regrets in life was letting the teachers in my secondary school convince us that Art class was for dullards and science class for the smartest students. I was excellent at debates, loved words and really wanted to be lawyer but they wouldn’t let me,” he stated.
“They made that choice for me before I understood what it meant. I’m pretty sure this was a moment that altered the trajectory of the lives of so many Nigerian kids,” he added.
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
