We Are Victorious Through Christ Who Loves Us Always

Acts 19:1-8
John 16:29-33

In today’s first reading, while Paul was in Ephesus, he met some believers who had not heard of the third person of the Blessed Trinity-The Holy Spirit. He then decided to instruct them, baptized them in the name of Jesus, and confirmed them by laying his hands on them. Paul then decided to stay a while to help nurture the Christian community there.

At Confirmation, we receive the Holy Spirit in order to deepen our baptismal graces and to make us soldiers of Christ. As the believers manifested the gifts of the Holy Spirit, so also we too, are being given the opportunity to make use of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and enrich the spiritual lives of others.

Jesus says in today’s gospel, that In the world you will have trouble,
but take courage, I have conquered the world.” This is sound consoling to us as we face daily challenges. Jesus spread the good news by what he said and what he did especially in suffering His crucifixion, death, and resurrection. He is the Son of God but went through suffering for our sake. Let us therefore continue to work on our trust in God. Ensure that your relationship with God is solid and steadfast. Always remember that He did all these so that you might have peace.
