Weekly Catch-Up On Naija’s Political Drama: Gov. Ortom Praying And Fasting; Bashir Ahmed Supporting Obi; Asiwaju’s Certificate; Atiku And His Many Wives
As the 2023 presidential election draws closer, there seems to be confusion, division, and fighting within the camp of the major political parties. Also, campaigns for presidential candidates, by supporters, have already commenced.
In this week’s Naija’s political drama, we have the Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom praying and fasting, seeking God’s approval of him supporting his party, PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Benue State Governor; Samuel Ortom
Gov Ortom said, “I am praying. I have gone into hibernation. I am fasting and praying. So in the end, if God directs me that I should support Atiku, why should I not do it? After all, he’s my party member. But I am waiting for him to do more.”
Gov Ortom, who was being sarcastic, disapproved of Atiku’s selection for his presidential running mate. The Benue State governor believes that Gov Nyesom Wike of Rivers State was the right pick but Atiku Abubakar choose someone else instead.

Presidential Aspirant; Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Also, the All Progressive Congress (APC), has faced serious backlash from angry Nigerians, especially the youths, after its 2023 presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu submitted an affidavit to INEC, in which he stated that he did not attend primary and secondary school but has two degrees in different US universities.
Tinubu further claimed that his certificates were stolen from him by some unnamed soldiers.
He said, “I went on self-exile from October 1994 to October 1998. When I returned I discovered that all my property, including all the documents relating to my qualifications and my certificates in respect of paragraph three above, were looted by unknown persons.
“My house was a target of a series of searches by various security agents from the time the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was forced to adjourn following the military takeover of the government of 17th November 1993.
“I was the chairman of the Senate committee on appropriation, banking, and finance. I was also a plaintiff in one of the two suits against the interim national government in 1993.
“I went into exile when it became clear to me that my life was in danger.”

Bashir Ahmed
Bashir Ahmad, a former Presidential aide, made a Twitter post on Thursday, speaking about the popularity of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi, in Northern Nigeria.
He stated that Peter Obi had become so popular in the north and will get more than 75% of its votes.
Bashir most likely wanted to mock Peter Obi, but Obi’s supporters took advantage of the post to campaign for Obi as Bashir failed to indicate if he was being sarcastic or not. The post was too plain to spot sarcasm.
This was his post, “Let me confess, the name Peter Obi alone is a movement to beat, I was in Kano over the weekend, and to my surprise everywhere is PO, nobody is talking about other candidates anymore and a friend told me that it’s a similar story in Katsina. LP is getting 75% – 80% in those States.”

Lastly, Dino Melaye, who was a former member of the House Of Rep, advised Nigerians To Vote For Atiku as their next president based on his strong uniting credentials of marring several women from all major Nigerian ethnic groups.
Dino stated that based on this, Atiku will bring unity among Nigerians just like he has brought all his wives from several parts of the country to stay together.
