Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has undergone emergency back surgery, according to a statement released by the club on Tuesday.
Guardiola had the treatment done in Barcelona, where he is currently recovering.
The 52-year-old will miss Man City’s Premier League fixtures against Sheffield United and Fulham before returning following the international break in September.
“Pep Guardiola has today undergone a routine operation on a back problem.
“Everyone at Manchester City wishes Pep a speedy recovery, and looks forward to seeing him back in Manchester soon,” Man City’s statement read.
This comes after Guardiola led Manchester City to a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United last weekend.
Kelechi Iheanacho Likely To Leave Leicester City
Crystal Palace are likely to begin talks with Leicester City in the coming days to sign Kelechi Iheanacho.
According to rumours, the London club would make a bid of £10 million to £12 million for the Nigeria international.
Leicester City want to get rid of Iheanacho, who has a year left on his deal.
If the Foxes are unable to reach an agreement with a club before the end of the current transfer window, the forward will go on a free transfer next summer.
Iheanacho wants to leave the King Power Stadium as well because he does not want to play in the Sky Bet Championship.
“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
