Weekly Football News Catch-Up: July 24th: Saudi League Is Better Than MLS – Ronaldo; Messi Scores A Freekick In His First MLS Match; Bayern Munich Wins 27-0 In Pre-season; Others

Saudi League Is Better Than MLS – Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo, the striker for Al Nasr, has asserted that the Saudi Pro League is superior to Major League Soccer (MLS).

Only a few days have passed since Lionel Messi, Ronaldo’s enduring nemesis, signed with Inter Miami.

Messi turned off a move to Saudi Arabia, where he would have resumed his battle with Ronaldo, and instead departed Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent this summer.

Ronaldo, however, is adamant that he made the right decision and cites the influx of athletes into the Middle East as evidence.

“Saudi league is better than MLS.

“I opened the way to the Saudi league… and now all the players are coming here,” Ronaldo said.

Bayern Munich Wins 27-0 In Pre-season Friendly

Bayern Munich defeated FC Rottach-Egern 27-0 to kick off their preseason exercises.

Four players scored hat-tricks or better against the 9th-tier German team.

Jamal Musiala, Marcel Sabitzer, and 18-year-old Mathys Tel each had five goals, and Serge Gnabry also had three.

New signing Raphael Guerreiro scored twice, while Sadio Mane and Kingsley Coman also scored.

The 27-goal thrashing outdid Bayern’s previous meeting against Rottach-Egern in 2019, which they won 23-0.

The Bavarians are holding their preseason training camp near the Austrian border at Tagernsee.

Thiago Silva Reveals Destination After Chelsea

Thiago Silva, a Chelsea defender, has revealed he would love to return to Brazil to play for his previous club Fluminense if he decides to leave the club in the near future.

Silva, meanwhile, confessed that his children are a stumbling block to any such relocation.

Speaking to a Brazilian outlet, O Globo, the former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back said: “Everyone knows how much I would like to return to Fluminense, but today it is hard to talk to my family [about it] because my children don’t want to live in Brazil.

“It is a very complicated situation, but we still have a year to reflect and understand what we are going to do next year.”

Silva moved from PSG to Chelsea a few years ago.

Messi Scores A Freekick In His First MLS Match

Major League Soccer, or MLS, has seen success for Lionel Messi right from the outset.

In the final seconds, the 36-year-old defeated Cruz Azul with a goal from a signature free kick.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner debuted for his new team on Saturday morning, much to everyone’s excitement.

Uriel Antuna successfully offset Robert Taylor’s strong opening goal before Messi scored the game-winning goal.

Conor Gallagher To Leave Chelsea For EPL Rivals

Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea, is expected to leave the team this summer as Spurs and West Ham are the front-runners to get him.

Even though Gallagher scored in Chelsea’s previous two preseason victories over Brighton and Wrexham, respectively, they have decided that he is no longer necessary.

After selling Declan Rice to Arsenal, the Evening Standard reports that West Ham is “ready to push ahead of Tottenham” in their pursuit of two midfielders.

While Tottenham is in need of homegrown talent and a potential successor for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is rumoured to be moving to Atletico Madrid, Tottenham may be the more alluring option for Gallagher.
