Manchester United Wins The Carabao Cup Ending 6 Years Trophy Drought

Manchester United won the Carabao Cup after defeating Newcastle 2-0 to end their six-year trophy drought.

At Wembley, Casemiro gave Erik ten Hag’s team the lead, and Sven Botman’s own goal doubled it just before halftime.

This is their first trophy since they won the Europa League under Jose Mourinho in 2017. It also might be the first trophy of a potential quadruple, given that United are still in the FA Cup, and Europa League, and still have a chance to win the Premier League.

Newcastle has been without a trophy for 54 years, and 68 years without a domestic trophy.

Newcastle started well, but in the 33rd minute, Casemiro leapt to head in a free kick from Luke Shaw for Manchester United to take the lead. After a VAR assessment, it was determined that the Brazilian was just barely onside.

Six minutes later, the lead was increased thanks to a wonderful combination between Marcus Rashford and Wout Weghorst, who then drove into the area and saw his effort deflect off of Botman and beyond Newcastle goalkeeper Loris Karius.

At halftime, Eddie Howe substituted Alexander Isak in an effort to change the momentum, but Newcastle was unable to get past a tenacious and resilient red wall, and Man Utd held on to win.

They even had a chance to add a third goal in stoppage time when Bruno Fernandes broke through on a counter but was stopped by Karius at close range.

“I Started As A Defender” – Osimhen

Victor Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, has revealed he started as a defender.

This was said by Osimhen in a conversation with Football Italia.

He said, “I was actually a defender.”

Osimhen also mentioned how Didier Drogba, an ex-Chelsea striker, had inspired him as a young boy.

Bukayo Saka To Sign New Contract With Arsenal

Bukayo Saka, an Arsenal winger, has told the club that he wants to remain at the Emirates.

The international for England is now prepared to sign a new contract for at least £10 million annually.

According to Sportsmail, both camps have made substantial strides toward a compromise recently.

Both parties are currently focusing on addressing the contract’s finer points after believing that the fundamentals of an agreement have been reached.

Saka is now anticipated to sign a new agreement.

The new long-term agreement will be worth more than £200,000 every week. The agreement would probably make him the club’s highest-paid player after bonuses.

Chelsea’s Owner Interested In Buying Another Club

Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, has expressed early interest in purchasing Strasbourg of the French Ligue 1 in conversations with Marc Keller, the club president.

Boehly succeeded Roman Abramovich as manager of Stamford Bridge in the summer. Over the past two transfer windows, he has spent more than £600 million on players.

The American billionaire replaced Thomas Tuchel as head coach with Graham Potter, In September of last year.

Nevertheless, things haven’t exactly gone according to plan; Chelsea is still having trouble in the Premier League, where they are currently ranked 10th.

The FA Cup and the Carabao Cup both saw early exits for the Blues.

L’Equipe claims that Boehly has now focused on owning more clubs and is particularly interested in Strasbourg.

Boehly is rumoured to have already met Keller about a potential sale, in which Keller would want to buy 100% of the French top-flight club. Strasbourg is currently 15th in the Ligue 1 standings.
