Wisdom from above

Wisdom from above

Learning will not make you wise. The path to wisdom is not necessarily through the schools. The brilliant scholar may be an arrant fool. True wisdom is found, not in mental acquisitions, but in a certain spiritual relation.

(James 1:5) But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Wisdom ultimately comes from God. Because people want to grow in wisdom and make wise decisions, they seek advice. Seeking advice is advisable, but critical that it comes from the right persons. If not, you’ll find that bad advice is abundant and cheap.

David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will You give them into my hand?” Then the Lord said to him, “Go up, for I will give them into your hand” (1 Chronicles 14:10). King David modelled a life of seeking God. Sometimes we can become so numb that we don’t want to talk to God, but this is a principle forged in faith. Don’t wait around for a feel-good moment of inspiration. Seek God right now.

The Philistines made yet another raid in the valley. David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the balsam trees” (1 Chronicles 14:13-14). Develop dependence on God.

The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy (James 3:17-18). When we find out what God wants us to do, we don’t waste energy on busy activity instead of actual achievement.

They called Joseph and said, “We have heard that you can interpret dreams” and he said it’s not in me, it’s an endowment.” (Genesis 41:16). And Pharaoh said “In as much as God has shown you all these…” (Genesis 41:39) He didn’t discover it, it was shown to him.

The Prophet Daniel said much the same thing after God supernaturally revealed to him Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and its meaning: “wisdom and power belong to Him” (Daniel 2:20). The fact is well established in Scripture—our God is distinguished by wisdom.

Even though Paul was a lawyer, he operated in God’s Wisdom given to him (2Corinthians 15:9). It’s a given grace, not an acquired skill. And this man named Paul, became the principal channel to communicate the wisdom of God.

I pray for you that in this season, you will return into your own gift of Supernatural wisdom from God. And as you do, you can have divine encounter after divine encounter in Jesus’ Name. Amen
